Coral Fade

As part of Meri Zirkelbach's MaterioLab project, various material experiments were carried out with the natural material CNF (Cellulose Nano Fibre) in a two-week workshop. In the final video installation, the material creates its own narrative: the cellulose material depicts the life cycle of corals under the conditions of climate crisis. The small detaching particles are a reminiscence of the coral bloom. The color disappears and pollutes the water. The material bleaches and eventually decays, a metaphor of transience, but in the end a small coral seems to give hope for a next chance.
